Texas Children's Hospital FUN RUN
The Texas Children's Hospital Kids' Fun run is a 2-mile, non-competitive event for children ages 5-15, including those with special needs. Every student is a winner at the marathon and receives a medal immediately after crossing the line. In class studetns are introduced to training schedules, nutrition information and fun activities to get them motivated about being active and particpatin in the event.
Fit For Life
The purpose of this initiative is to offer a variety of healthy and fitness activities for children and families that reside in the North Region. Through these activities families on eating right, fighting obesity and preventing disese by incorporatin healthy living into a daily lifestyle. Herrera students took part in the soccer tounament and placed second place.
Jump Rope For Heart
Jump Rope for Heart is a national educational fundrasing program sponsored by the American Heart Assocationand the American Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance (AAHPERD). This program engages students in physical activity and teaches them the value about community service.
